Emergency Medicine
Emergency medicine focuses on patients who suddenly become seriously ill, are injured in an accident, or suffer poisoning. The goal is to quickly identify life-threatening situations and immediately initiate the necessary medical procedures.

Emergency Medicine
In emergency medicine, medical decisions often have to be made within a few minutes. The goal is to quickly identify life-threatening situations, stabilize patients, and immediately take appropriate actions.
Particularly in cases of rare but severe poisoning, the immediate availability of appropriate antidotes can be crucial to the success of treatment and the survival of those affected.
Key aspects of emergency medicine include the following:
- Maintaining vital functions such as respiration and circulation
- Rapid diagnosis as the basis for targeted treatment
- Resuscitation in the event of cardiopulmonary arrest
- Wound care and hemostasis
- Recognizing and treating poisonings
- Treatment of severe pain and, if necessary, calming or short-term sedation measures (medically controlled sedation)
Depending on the type of toxin, different antidotes are used for the treatment of poisoning. They need to be immediately available at all times, as every minute counts in such life-threatening situations. Successful treatment requires effective teamwork—from emergency medical services to emergency medical care to the intensive care unit.
Our Contribution to Emergency Medicine
A key focus of our work in emergency medicine is on antidotes for rare but potentially life-threatening poisonings. Although such poisonings fortunately occur only very rarely, the appropriate medications must be available at all times.
With our specialized pharmaceutical products, we help ensure that medical teams can act quickly in critical situations.
